Now, streaming TV or movies constantly is not a hygge way of living, but scheduling an extra special family movie night once in a while certainly is. Quality time with the ones you love most is always a good use of your time.
1. James and the Giant Peach (1996)
What I love about James and the Giant Peach is that it is based on an excellent children’s book by Roald Dahl. You can read the book as a family before you watch the film! I’m not entirely sure why I consider this a fall movie, but nevertheless it is an excellent choice for a Family Movie Night in the Fall. Enjoy the adventures of James and his insect friends as they travel to New York in a giant peach. Take your family night a step further by eating peach cobbler or peaches and cream while you watch the movie.
2. Addam’s Family (2019)
Some people might like the classic Addam’s Family movie, but I found the newest rendition utterly delightful. I was having so many childhood flashbacks to the old black and white TV show. This animated movie is perfect for the entire family and is filled with all things Addam’s family. It will have you laughing in the first five minutes. Definitely an instant addition to your fall movie bucket list.
3. Casper (1995)
Whenever I think of fall I think of Halloween and Casper. My first crush was probably Casper, because that dance scene is adorable, am I right? Be sure to watch this one with older kiddos, because some scenes can be a little scary. At least for younger kids, that is. It’s also emotionally heavy if you think about it, but that’s what I love most about this movie. Casper is a feel good classic for any family movie night in the fall.
4. It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown (1966)
Speaking of classics, you can’t have a fall movie list without It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. If you want to watch a fall movie with the kids, but don’t have a lot of time, this is the perfect movie for you. It’s only 25 minutes long! You also get a much-needed dose of that amazing Peanuts theme song. Every child should watch It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, if only to know when older people are referencing the movie. And for snoopy.
5. Haunted Mansion (2003)
The Haunted Mansion is such an underrated movie. My sister and I quote it all the time. Out of all the movies on my list of 5 Fantastic Movies to Family Movie Night in the Fall, this one is by far the funniest. Again, this film is for older kiddos. Toddlers might find it a little unnerving, so beware. It is about a haunted mansion, after all.
