Items You Need to Add to Your Spring Cleaning Checklist
The past few weeks I’ve been working through my Spring Cleaning checklist. I thought I had checked everything off the list, but as it turns out there were still several things I completely missed. If you are working through your own list, be sure to look through these 10 Items You Need to Add to Your Spring Clean Checklist.
1. Wipe Down the Baseboards
For some reason I always forget to wipe down the baseboards. I mean, who ever really thinks to do that? But baseboards get dusty and gross, so be sure to add this item to your Spring Cleaning Checklist!
2. Clean the Windows
Kansas winters are long and windy, so when it finally decides to warm up outside one of the first things I want to do is enjoy all the green outside. It’s hard to do that with dirty windows. Be sure to clean them inside and out this Spring.
3. Wipe Down the Oven and Microwave
If you are anything like me you put this task off until it’s nearly an emergency. I do not like cleaning the oven, and the microwave is just as annoying. Sure, if I spot cleaned them more often it might not be as bad, but let’s face it. I’m not going to do that.
4. Declutter That One Space
You know that closet, drawer, cabinet or area you’ve been avoiding going through? We all have that one space that collects a whole lot of garbage. This Spring, get it done.
5. Deep Clean the Car
We all give our cars a surface clean now and then, but when was the last time you actually deep cleaned the car? I mean got in all the nooks and crannies. Under the seats and in the glovebox? Go ahead and give that car a bit more love this Spring.
6. Clean the Washer
You might be saying, “Chelsea, why on earth would I clean the washer and dryer? Shouldn’t they be clean?” Well, that’s a good point. They should be. But every now and then it’s important to clean the lint out of the dryer and run your washer through a clean cycle.
7. Dust Fans and Light Fixtures
Did you know that the dust on your fans and light fixtures might be contributing to your congestion? Springtime can certainly aggravate allergies, so don’t give it any help. Give all the light fixtures a good dusting. In fact, dust the entire house while you are at it. Vents and all. You will thank yourself later.
8. Deep Clean the Fridge and Freezer
I don’t know if it’s the warmer weather, but healthy food actually sounds appealing in Spring. Cleaning out the fridge and freezer is one of the best items to add to your checklist. It’s another task that gets put off, but is still important.
9. Door Handles and Light Switches
Some of the most touched areas of your home area doorknobs and light switches. Cleaning high-touch zones is an excellent way to prevent getting sick.
10. Dishwasher Trap
Of all the Items You Need to Add to Your Spring Clean Checklist, this one is the most disgusting to me. I had no idea there was a trap in our dishwasher that needed to be cleaned. Ew. You’ve been warned.
