Scriptures to Ponder in the Autumn Season
My church started a Bible reading plan recently, and I have been loving reading through scripture each morning. For some reason that’s a habit that I’ve gotten away from and one I’ve missed. Below are five Scriptures to Ponder in the Autumn Season. Be sure to check out the free printable below!
1. “Daniel answered and said: “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might. He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding…” – Daniel 2:20-21
Our God is Creator of all things; ruler over time. Throughout the autumn season, take some time to think about how God created the changing seasons. Fall is such a beautiful time, and isn’t it incredible that our Heavenly Father created each color of the the changing leaves a set the setting sun into motion?
2. “The best of the firstfruits of your ground you shall bring into the house of the Lord your God.” – Exodus 23:19
Autumn is a time of harvest, which is an excellent time to not only remember but to practice the giving of first fruits. This fall season, do a little study on what it means to give the first fruits. What can you give to the Lord this year, physically or spiritually? Are you giving Him the first and best or the leftovers?
3. “Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” – Matthew 9:37
There are so many people who don’t know about the love of Jesus. Our church is currently going through a sermon series about loving the community you are in, so this verse hits home for me on a few levels. How can you live out your faith in such a way that others might know Jesus?
4. “Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. You also, be patient.” – James 5:7-8
Another prevalent thing to ponder this autumn is patience. We planted several knew fruit bushes and various flower bulbs in our backyard, but we won’t see the fruits of our labor until next year, or possibly the year after that. What does God have to teach you about patience this season?
5. “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” – Galatians 6:9
I don’t know about y’all, but lately I’ve been feeling so weary. Weary of working hard and pushing through and giving more when those around me give nothing in return. I’m just worn out, but scripture reminds us that we should not give up, because in “due season we will reap” the harvest from the seeds we sow.
