What Your Mom Really Wants For Mother’s Day
Do you know what your mom really wants for Mother’s Day? Are you just now remembering that Mother’s Day is coming soon? Well have no fear, I have made a list of five non-gift things your mother wants this year. This list is based on all the feedback I received from all the mothers I know and love dearly. You guys are strong, amazing warrior women who can do anything.
Oh, and if you still need a physical gift idea for mom, I made a handy dandy list for your reference below. Please enjoy this list of What Your Mom Really Wants For Mother’s Day.

1. She wants to spend time with you.
I asked my mom about her favorite Mother’s Day gift so far, and she said, “I like it when my kids spend time with me.” It’s as simple as that! Your mom just wants you to cancel all your plans and focus on spending time alone with her, just the family. The photo above is of my mother and siblings on a lunch out. There’s something special about spending extended quality time with the ones we love. This Mother’s Day, try scheduling extra time with you and your mama.
2. She wants you to listen.
Moms often don’t feel heard or seen. They spend hours repeating themselves. They run themselves into the ground making sure everyone around them is okay. Moms spend a majority of their time thinking about the needs of others, and rarely get their own needs met.
This Mother’s Day, spend time listening to your mom. Yup, just sit and listen to her. No phones or TV in the background, just you and your mama. What is troubling her at work? Does she need anything done around the house? What would she like to do to celebrate? Listen, and then respond accordingly. It’s a simple act, but one that will mean the world to her.
3. She wants to relax
Mom’s do. They work all day and all night, constantly sacrificing and putting others first. This Mother’s Day, give your mom a break. Give her the entire week off and do all the chores. She deserves to relax for once. Just think, I mean really think about all the thousands of things you mother did for you when you were a kid. She’s earned a break, y’all! Get her a spa certificate or movie tickets. Whatever eases the burden your mother carries, do that. She will appreciate the effort.
4. She wants a gift from the heart
Remember what I said about listening to your mom? Sure, mugs and picture frames make a cute gift, but what does your mom really want for Mother’s Day? Maybe she is frustrated, because the garage door doesn’t work. Maybe she needs something heavy moved from the backyard. Does she need the oil changed in the car? I promise, if you listen carefully to your mom in the months leading up to Mother’s Day, she will tell you exactly what she wants or needs. Give her a gift that shows you’ve been thinking of her, and that’s what counts.
5. She wants to eat a delicious meal.
There’s nothing better than a delicious meal with family. Food should be on the love language list, I swear. When I asked my friend Maggie what she would want for the upcoming holiday she said “Chocolate! But maybe that’s just a young and tired mom talking.”
What does your mom love to eat? Does she prefer a restaurant or a home-cooked meal, salty or sweet treats? It’s a little known fact that calories do not count on Mother’s Day, so give the woman some scrumptious food! My mom loves chocolate covered strawberries from Shari’s Berries. They also have some great snack options online at Harry & David. Think outside the box!
