10 Ways to Safely Celebrate Easter at Home
Easter might look a little different again this year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate. Don’t let social distancing dampen your spirits. Easter is the time for rejoicing and thanking God for all He has done for He is risen! He is risen indeed. Below are 10 Ways to Safely Celebrate Easter at Home. How do you plan to enjoy Easter this year?
1. Dye Eggs
A classic thing toto safely celebrate Easter at home is to dye some eggs. You just can’t go wrong with a classic. Try different egg coloring techniques this year to change it up. Or you could dye eggs to leave in baskets for your neighbors, friends or family. Think outside the box!
2. Decorate the House
Again, just because we can’t have a lot of people over for the holiday doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a change in decor. Pull out all your bright Spring decor and add a little life into your home. I don’t know about you, but I’m getting awfully tired of being inside all the time. A change in indoor scenery might just be the trick this Easter.
3. Hunt for Eggs
Massive neighborhood egg hunts might be out of the realm of possibility this Easter, but you can host your own little egg hunt at home. If it’s warm enough, hide a few outside. If it’s cold this Easter then host an indoor egg hunt for your family. Even if you don’t have kids in the house, hunting for eggs is still a fun activity to bring out your inner child.
4. Dress Up
Another of the 10 Ways to Safely Celebrate Easter at Home is to dress up. Are you watching church virtually this Easter? Well go the extra mile and dress as though you were going in person. It feels good to dress nice from time to time. Put away the lounge set for one day. You might enjoy it!
5. Frost Cookies
Decorating cookies is a classic way to celebrate in our home. You don’t have to be a frosting expert to enjoy a good sugar cookie. Try a new recipe or have a decorating contest with your close family. It doesn’t matter how they turn out, because everyone knows the best part of making cookies is eating them.
6. Try an Easter Craft
Pinterest is absolutely packed full of ideas for Spring and Easter crafts. Dust off your crafting supplies and make some cards to send to the people you love. Or paint a picture, build a birdhouse, start a scrapbook. Whatever your creative heart desires, go for it. A little creativity might help ease the anxiety of still being at home.
7. Make Bunny Pancakes
The other day I saw these cute bunny pancakes on Pinterest and they were just so perfect. Easter is an opportunity to be a little extra. I mean, you are already dressed up and having an Easter hunt in your own front yard. Might as well take it the next step and form pancakes into bunnies. Because why not?
8. Read the Easter Story
Remember the reason for the season. As fun as eggs and pancakes are, they are not the purpose for celebrating Easter. Take some time this Easter to read through the Easter story in the Bible. Then once you are finished reading, be still and pray. Thank God for sending His Son to die on the cross in order to save us. Easter is a time of celebration. We were once lost, but by the grace of God we have been saved.
9. Host a Virtual Gathering
I know it’s not the same thing, but if you are missing your family and friends this Easter, then try hosting a virtual gathering. We might not be able to hug one another, but we can see each other’s faces and celebrate together even when we are apart. It’s such a blessing to be alive in this age of technology.
10. Take a Family Photo
Every year on Easter my family takes a photo. How about yours? We might not be in the same room this year, but we can still keep tradition by being innovative with our family picture. Crop each other into the same picture, take one through zoom or make a collage of photos. Again, I want to encourage you not to let this pandemic rob you of all joy. Find special ways to make this Easter memorable. We will all be together again soon!
