15 Must-Have Foods at Universal Studios Orlando
Below is my list of the 15 Best Foods at Universal Studios Orlando and Islands of Adventure. These 15 delicious eats and treats are must-haves when visiting in the parks. Although, I suggest not trying to eat them all in one day. That is unless you enjoy a good challenge.
The 15 Best Foods are not listed in any particular order and I have no affiliation with either park. I am just a fan of food.
Oh, and do you like to over-prepare like me? Then you will love the downloadable checklist below. It comes with maps of the park marked with stars so you never lose you way while stumbling along in a delightful food coma. Or download a helpful Travel Planner on the @hyggefamilyprints page on Etsy.
1. Butter Beer or Lavender Earl Grey Ice Cream at Florean Forescue’s
Okay, yes. Technically this is two flavors of ice cream and therefore two food items, but I am counting them as one because I could not choose. Both flavors are absolutely delicious and well worth the calories. The butter beer flavor is sweet and creamy and forms this photo ready swirl. Lavender Earl Grey is a light ice cream, so if you don’t like an overwhelming flavor this one is for you.
2. Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie from Snookers and Snookers Sweet Candy Cookers
I didn’t plan to purchase this cookie, but boy am I glad I did. All the food lines were packed full, it was almost 2pm and I hadn’t eaten yet. You’d think that would influence my opinion, but my husband agreed it was the best cookie. It was soft, not too dense and had the perfect amount of chocolate on top. The truth is you just can’t go wrong with peanut butter and chocolate.
3. Traditional English Breakfast from the Three Broomsticks
Colton and I shared this plate for breakfast one morning. I’ve always wanted to try a Traditional English Breakfast. Obviously this is a theme park meal, so I am not entirely sure how authentic it was. The croissant was scrumptious, as were the sausages, ham and potatoes. All in all I would suggest it for breakfast. The ambiance of the Three Broomsticks alone is worth eating a sit down meal.
4. Acai Bowl from the Today Cafe
The acai bowl from the Today Cafe is perfect if you are looking for a lighter, healthier meal to balance out the park food. As a smoothie bowl connoisseur, I have to say this was tasty and a delightful break from heavier foods in the park. Haven’t tried a acai bowl before? No worries! It’s basically a thick smoothie or fruity ice cream. Trust me. You’ll love it.
5. Toad in the Hole from the Leaky Cauldron
Toad in the Hole, what a funny name. First of all, I love peas, so I was very excited to see this meal came with a large helping of them. The other veggies were also a welcomed treat. Like I said previously, park food can be pretty dense. It’s important to have a balanced diet even in a theme park. The toad in the hole meal was not overly filling and I would gladly eat it again.
Oh, and in case you were wondering toad in the hole is sausages tucked into Yorkshire pudding batter. Yup, it is as yummy as it sounds.
6. Foot Long Corn Dog from Moose Juice Goose Juice
Can you ever go wrong with a corn dog? My family has a particular fondness for them. To be candid I did not in fact eat this entire corn dog. I sampled and Colton ate the rest. It’s like two corn dogs in one and I had other foods to sample. However, the few bites I did enjoy were great and I highly recommend you give this treat a try. Maybe share it between friends! Or keep it all to yourself. Ain’t no judgement here.
7. Butterbeer Potted Cream from The Leaky Cauldron
Anything butter beer is delicious. Anything. This potted cream is no exception. It’s like a mix between butterscotch pudding and mousse. Like fluffy and creamy and everything you want in a dessert. A bonus? You get to keep the glass pot it comes in!
8. Minion S’more from Studio Sweets
I will admit this food item is more of a photo moment than a delicious treat. If you like white chocolate, you will like this s’more. I prefer dark of milk chocolate, so it was not my favorite. However, minions are adorable and I could not resist this bright yellow treat. Kiddos will love it for sure.
9. Rice Bowl from Thunder Falls Terrace
If you are looking for a vegetarian option at Universal Studios, look no further. This rice bowl is made with jack fruit! You can choose to get it with or without cheese for a vegan-friendly option. Not only was this bowl delicious, but light and filling. Jack fruit is a great substitution for shredded meat, and I will definitely be trying it again in the future. Thunder Falls Terrace is also a big restaurant, so there was plenty of seating.
10. Chocolate Brownie Shake from Toothsome Chocolate Emporium
Toothsome Chocolate Emporium is my favorite place on the planet. There, I said it. The service is excellent and the long lines are worth the wait. Toothsome is known for their Instagramable shakes. The chocolate brownie shake is the most tame in my opinion, but I love a good old fashioned chocolate shake. The waiter also told me they offer a lactose free option!
By the way I apologize for the dark photo. It does not do this delicious treat justice, but by the time we got to the restaurant and through the line it was dark outside. Still drool worthy despite the darkness.
Bonus: Croque Monsieur at Toothsome Chocolate Emporium
My favorite dinner dish at Toothsome is the Croque Monsieur, which is basically a very fancy ham and cheese sandwich. It’s mouth-watering. Add a side of fries with ranch and you’ve got my second favorite meal at Universal.
11. Wellington Burger & Curly Fries from Wimpy’s
Tess with Iconic Eats on Delish recommends this burger and boy are we glad we listened to the recommendation. If you can’t tell my husband is a serious carnivore and burger connoisseur. I was surprised when he gave the Wellington Burger at Wimpy’s an official stamp of approval, because he gives them out so sparingly. Definitely worth the stop! Be sure to check the Universal app beforehand, as this stand is not always open.
12. Oreo Doughnut at Voodoo Doughnut
There is a bit of a cult following for Voodoo Doughnuts. People love them. Everywhere you go in Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, someone has a Voodoo Doughnuts box. That being said I may get some backlash, but I did not care for Voodoo Doughnuts. Maybe they needed to be heated up or I came on a bad day, but to me they were only okay.
Why add them to this list, you may be asking? Like I said, every where you go someone has a box of these doughnuts. Evidently they are great, and if not there are certainly a bucket list item to try. If anything, you need to take a photo in the doughnut chair outside.
13. Chicken Kabab from Doc Sugrues Desert Kebab House
Are you looking for a lighter lunch option while at Universal? The chicken Kabab at Doc Sugrue’s is a perfect fit. Our strategy for eating the kabab was pulling all the chicken of the skewer and eating it like a sandwich. However, be careful when you remove the meat from the skewer, because that chicken comes out piping hot!
14. Fork, Knife, and Spoon Grilled Cheese from Mythos
I’ve eaten several meals within Universal and Islands of Adventure, but the food at Mythos was my favorite. Hands down the best meal I have ever had with the most superior service. Both of our waitresses were kind, thoughtful, and made our meal the memorable. If you are only able to eat one meal at Universal, choose Mythos. Seriously you guys, this might have been the best meal of my life.
Oh, and be sure to start your meal with their Mediterranean Sourdough Bread. Yum.
15. Chocolate Banana Gooey Cake from Mythos
My taste buds were sent on this incredible journey that I can only describe as one step from heaven. Literally I hope I eat this meal in heaven someday. The Chocolate Banana Gooey Cake at Mythos is the most delectable dessert I have every had the privilege eating. My taste buds are still talking about it.
*Bonus item: Butterbeer – Hot, Cold or Frozen
Technically not a food, but butter beer is absolutely delicious. My personal favorite is hot, but if it is a particularly toasty day outside then frozen is ideal. Make sure to get the souvenir mug. You can get refill of various drinks for only a couple dollars with that mug.
