21 NEW Must-Have Foods at Universal Orlando
By far my most popular post to date has been 15 Must-Have Foods at Universal Studios Orlando. With that in mind I decided to do a new and improved version of the list when we visited Universal Studios last November. Below are 21 NEW Must-Have Foods at Universal Orlando. You might seem some repeats, but there are also some new favorites of mine as well as an item I no longer recommend. Happy eating!
Mythos Restaurant
1. Bacon Cheeseburger
The first item on our foodie list might seem simple, but every single item on the Mythos menu is delicious. At least every item we have tried. There are several on the list as you may notice. We saw someone else with this burger and came back a different day to get it. It did not disappoint!
Keep in mind you may need a reservation at Mythos depending on the day. I would call ahead and ask the staff just to be sure.
2. Fork, Knife and Spoon Grilled Cheese
The very best dish on the Mythos menu is the Fork, Knife and Spoon Grilled Cheese sandwich. It’s topped with crispy pork belly and housemade chips and sits in a bed of tomato bisque. I can’t explain it. You just need to try it. And as soon as possible, because your taste buds deserve the experience.
3. Beef Loin Medallions
The Beef Loin Medallions are served with a side of potato purée and roasted carrot. My sister said this was the best steak she has ever had. We were supposed to slide out meals, but I was not willing to part with my grilled cheese and she was not willing to part with her steak. So we stuck to our own dishes!
4. Chocolate Banana Gooey Cake
Quite possibly the best dessert I have ever had is the chocolate banana gooey cake at Mythos. Can you tell I love that restaurant? You guys it’s so good. We had it last time we were at the park and it was even better this time. The flourless cake is topped with peanut butter ice cream and caramel. I don’t even like caramel and this cake is mind-blowing.
5. Chocolate-Hazelnut Crème Brûlée
This photo does not do the Crème Brûlée justice. My sister chose this dessert and I was only able to have a little spoonful. It was incredible. Next time I go back I plan to get this dessert. And maybe the banana cake too, because I can’t help myself and have no control.
Studio Sweets
6. Minion Cupcake
Okay, so now that we’ve finished talking about Mythos, here are a few yummy treats from Studio Sweets. Last year they have a minion graham cracker thing, but this year there was an adorable cupcake! You can’t go wrong with a chocolate cupcake.
7. Mini PB&J Woopie Pie
If you are looking for a lighter treat to snack on, I recommend trying the Mini PB&J Woopie Pie. It was filled with peanut butter fluff and jam. You just can’t mess that up! Also, how cute is this tiny dessert? I mean really.
8. Butterfinger Brownie
I bought this for my husband, because he loves Butterfinger. I didn’t get to taste it myself, but he said it was amazing. A little chewy with the topping and rich, but amazing nonetheless.
Green Eggs and Ham Cafe
9. Buffalo Chicken Tots
I planned to get the Green Eggs and Ham tots when we visited Seuss Landing, but y’all by this 5th day at the park I was just over full and unable to eat another bite. My husband stepped in and tried the buffalo chicken tots, which he enjoyed immensely. If you like a little heat on your food, this dish is a good choice.
Cafe 4
10. Chicken Parmesan and Spaghetti
My sister and I had a night out just the two of us when we went to Universal. By the time we had finished enjoying the rides and attractions we had forgotten dinner and many restaurants were full or closing. Luckily Cafe 4 was open in Marvel Super Hero Island. I’m not sure if it was our hanger, but this chicken parm was actually really good. The breadstick was slightly stale, but it was the end of the day, so I don’t think that counts. I’d eat it again!
Hopping Pot
11. Butterbeer
You can’t go to Universal and not try the butterbeer in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It’s delicious and addicting. The first time we went to Universal I drank too much and made myself sick. Still worth it, though.
12. Peachtree Fizzing Tea
The Peachtree Fizzing Tea was a first for me and I wish I would have discovered it sooner. I also wish I had not also bought a butterbeer at the same time, because it was very difficult to finish two drinks. I was not successful. This drink is especially tasty on a hot day.
13. Beef Pasties
I had no idea they sold beef pasties at the Hopping Pot. It’s good to remember for the future! If you are looking for a delicious, quick snack, but don’t want to wait in line at the restaurants, the beef pasties are a great choice. They are also easy to keep for later if you need.
Three Broomsticks
14. Chocolate Trifle
Another ideal food stop is the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade. My chair in this restaurant was comically short, which I think added to the magic of the meal. Anyway, this chocolate trifle was a little more strawberry than chocolate. I ended up giving it to my little sister, because I’m a little particular on texture. However, if you like strawberries I think you would love this dessert!
Toothsome Chocolate Emporium
15. Flourless Chocolate Cake
Okay, so Toothsome is technically not inside the park, but it’s so close I say it counts. This year we tried the flourless chocolate cake and y’all… I made myself sick eating it. The picture doesn’t do it justice, either. This dessert is a treat for the eyes and the tastebuds. Worth the calories.
16. Nutella and Brownie Milkshakes
You can’t go to Toothsome and not get a Milkshake. We waited until our last day at the park to get them, and it was worth the wait. They are rich and definitely unhealthy, but look how gorgeous they are. Every shake is crafted to look like it’s fresh out of a magazine. And you get a Toothsome cup to keep, so that’s a bonus.
Today Cafe
17. Acai Bowl
I wasn’t able to eat the açaà bowl again this trip, but it makes the list, because it is still on the menu at the Today Cafe and it was so stinking’ good. It’s a great healthy breakfast idea. Or healthy snack. Or lunch. Because let’s face it, any time of day is a good time for a smoothie bowl.
Moose Juice Goose Juice
18. Footlong Corn Dog
So fun fact, the footlong corn dog is not on the menu at Moose Juice Goose Juice. It’s a secret menu item that’s available at your request. This is certainly one of my husband’s favorite foods at Universal.
Snookers & Snookers Sweet Candy Cookers
19. Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookie
As you can see the peanut butter chocolate cookie has changed a little since we were last at Universal. It was still yummy, but I actually preferred the old version. If you like peanut butter and chocolate it’s certainly worth the try.
Florean Fortescue’s Ice-Cream Parlour
20. Butterbeer Ice Cream
This year the butterbeer ice cream was not nearly as photogenic. It looks a little sad if I’m honest, but the ice cream attendant said it was because there was a little too much syrup and I can’t complain about that! It was still equally delicious, even if it wasn’t as aesthetically pleasing.
Cowfish
21. Burgushi
Another restaurant that’s outside the park in CityWalk is Cowfish. They serve the most amazing Burgushi. We went there on our last day and I was so sad we hadn’t discovered the restaurant sooner! If you like sushi or just good food, then this restaurant needs to make your list. The burgushi is like sushi and cheeseburgers combined. Yeah. Delicious.
Toothsome Chocolate Emporium
22. Croque Monsieur
I saved this particular dish for last, because it was so disappointing. You can see the Croque Monsieur I had last year verses the one I had this year. The former is clearly the winner. I used to dream about this sandwich. That’s how incredible it was the first and second time I had it. Yes, I had it twice on one trip. However, this year it was sad. It was a sad excuse for a sandwich that I don’t think I will be trying again. Rest In Peace, Croque Monsieur.
