5 Habits to Adopt for the New Year
Every year on New Year’s Eve my husband and I have a family meeting and discuss our goals. If you haven’t had time to make your resolution list for 2021, below are 5 Habits to Adopt for the New Year. Each of these habits would be excellent to implement. Do you have more ideas than the five listed below? Feel free to email or message me on Instagram with your ideas.
1. Start Journaling
Studies show writing in a journal or diary can help relieve anxiety, express creativity and improve memory. I decided to start prayer journaling again several months ago, and I now look forward to it as the best part of my morning. There is just something so relaxing about starting my day off writing down my thoughts and worries. It frees my mind to focus on other things. 2. Adopt a Hygge Hobby
One of the best habits to adopt for the New Year is a hygge hobby. Hobbies are good for you for so many reasons. It could help you lose weight, work more efficiently, build better relationships, give you a new challenge, and so much more. I was determined to establish a hobby in 2020, and it just didn’t happen, so this particular item will be on my list for 2021. 3. Clear the Clutter
One of the absolute best things you can do for yourself this year is clear the clutter. The nesting phase I went through at the end of my pregnancy had me organizing and de-cluttering like crazy, and I loved every second of it. Less mess means less stress, and who doesn’t want less stress in this new year? 4. Try a Smoothie Bowl
If you have not had the opportunity to try a smoothie bowl, then you are missing out. It is my all-time favorite breakfast. If you love fruit or are looking to be a little healthier this year, trying a smoothie bowl is an excellent task to add to your new habits list. You can order from a local restaurant or make one for yourself at home! Not sure what ingredients to buy? Check out My Ultimate Healthy Smoothie Bowl Recipe.
5. Read a Physical Book
Every year I tell myself that I am going to read more, and every year I am lucky to complete five books. I’m not sure how time always gets away from me, but this year I will be making the same resolution. Even reading one physical book is an excellent habit to add to your list. Reading enhances creativity, allows your brain a break from electronics, and reduces stress (among many other benefits). Of the 5 Habits to Adopt for the New Year, reading a physical book should be a priority. For ideas on what to read check out my Recommended Reads page.
