5 Interesting Fourth of July Traditions to Try

One of my husband’s favorite holidays is the Fourth of July. I grew up not really celebrating it in a big way, so I’m learning to embrace new traditions. Below are 5 Interesting Fourth of July Traditions to Try. If you are looking for a new way to celebrate this year, I hope this will be of help. God Bless!

1. Make Red White and Blue Food

I love a good theme, so making red white and blue desserts for the Fourth of July just feels right. There are endless ideas on Pinterest, so be sure to check that out if you want to make the dessert yourself. Or you could go to the grocery store or a local baker to have something made for you! We bought homemade cookies this year from a local business and they are YUM.

2. Get Dressed Up

A few years ago my brother brought his kids to our family Fourth of July bbq and they all wore matching outfits. It was amazing. There’s nothing wrong with going all out for the holidays.

3. Go to the Movies

If you don’t like fireworks or being out in the heat, try going to the movies. My husband and I used to go to the movies together on Christmas Day before we had our daughter, and it was such a fun tradition. You could even bring a red white and blue snack to share!

4. Play a USA Trivia Game

It’s important to remember the reason we celebrate the Fourth of July every year. Many brave men and women have died to give us the freedom we have in America. To honor the reason for the season, you could play a USA Trivia game or even read the Declaration of Independence.

5. Travel to a Festival

There are many Fourth of July festivals all around the nation, but a few of them stuck out to me, so I thought I would recommend. The first one is held in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, which is known as the birth place of America. The Fourth of July Jam is the “largest free concert in America.”

Another exciting opportunity is the Boston Massachusetts Harborfest. It lasts an entire week and includes many educational programs and tours. If you or your family is looking to travel for the holiday, I recommend doing a little research and trying a Fourth of July festival.
