Every year I tell myself I am going to start a garden and every year I fail. And when I say fail I mean my plants decide not to grow or grow alien looking vegetables. However, I am still determined to start a garden. Why? Because there are co many benefits! Read below to discover the 5 Reasons You Need to Garden This Year.
1. Gardening Reduces Stress
Studies show gardening is an excellent stress reliever. This could be due to many factors, including exposure to sunlight. Sunlight provides an influx of vitamin D and spending time in the great outdoors provides you with a much-needed dose of fresh air.
2. Gardening Strengthens Your Immune System
Speaking of getting some vitamin D, gardening has been shown to strengthen immunity. Working in the garden is, after all, a physical activity. Moving your body regularly is good for your immune system. You can also choose to grow many helpful vegetables, herbs and spices that will also benefit your immune system.
3. Gardening Stocks Your Fridge
Speaking of growing delicious veggies, one of the 5 Reasons You Need to Garden This Year is that is stocks your fridge. No need to run to the store when you have a variety of foods growing in your own backyard. My final reason of the 5 Reasons You Need to Garden This Year is that gardening gives you a sense of achievement. Last year I grew five strawberries and one tiny pumpkin. Oh, and a few potatoes. But after years of being relatively unsuccessful with my gardening attempts, you better believe I was proud of that harvest. There’s nothing like working hard and seeing a positive result… and then eating that result! Am I right?
