5 Simple Ways You Can Make More Time in Your Day
Have you ever found yourself wishing for more time? More time to get your to-do list done, spend time with family, or to chase your dreams? Trust me, I have been there, but the truth is we only have 24 hours in a day. However, we can learn to use the time we are given wisely. Below are 5 Simple Ways You Can Make More Time in Your Day.
1. Start Your Day the Right Way
It might seem counter-intuitive to save time by adding something to your schedule, but stay with me. The most important thing you can do to save yourself time is to hand it all over to God first thing in the morning. Start your day the right way in prayer and spending time with your Heavenly Father. I know, you are probably saying, “Chelsea, I hardly have time to wash the dishes. I can’t sacrifice my morning.” Trust me, it’s not a sacrifice. It’s an investment.
God is the maker of time itself, and He wants to spend time with you. Give Him those first 30 minutes of your day and watch how He transforms the rest of your schedule. It will never be a waste, I promise.
2. Delete Social Media
How many hours a day do you send looking at your phone? I know I get caught in the Instagram scroll every now and again and find I have lost over an hour. That’s time you can’t get back. Sure, it might be nice to be lazy and stop thinking for a little while, but if that 15 minutes on Facebook leaves you feeling more stressed later in the day… was it worth it? Make more time in your day by getting rid of the most distracting apps on your phone. Or fast from certain outlets for a season. Whatever you need to do.
3. Turn Off the TV
As distracting as social media can be, the television can be just as distracting. We all have our favorite shows and movies, but if you find yourself watching 10 hours of television a week, that’s 10 hours you could give yourself to accomplish your current goals. If you are serious about change and achieving something great, then lay down the remote. Do you really need to know what happens this week on Dancing with the Stars? Probably not. It won’t affect you in the long term.
4. Create a Schedule and Stick to It
The best way to maximize your time other than handing it to God is to manage it well. We were given this one life and it’s important not to waste it. If you are scatter-brained and unorganized, start by making yourself a schedule. Put your top-priority items on the calendar. Establish a morning and nighttime routine. Then try out your new schedule for a week and adjust if needed. Give yourself some much-needed structure and you will be surprised by the amount of time you save.
5. Hire or Ask for Help
Don’t have time to mow the lawn? Hire someone to help you in the yard. Can’t keep up with the grocery shopping? Start a recurring delivery. Need a date night with your spouse? Ask someone to watch the kids. Save yourself time by delegating responsibility and communicating your needs. As long as it is within your budget, hire people to help you. There’s no shame in needing help! Just be honest with yourself and others. It takes a village, you know?
