6 Benefits of Rising Early in the Morning
Years ago rising early was one of my favorite things to do. It felt good to start my day off with a workout, quiet time alone with God and a good breakfast. Yet since becoming a mother, getting up any earlier than necessary is difficult. I miss it. So I decided to do some research and motivate myself to re-claim being a morning person. Read below to discover the 6 Benefits of Rising Early in the Morning.Â
1. Time to Yourself
I’m an introvert, and it’s challenging for me to start my morning with a lot of noise. That’s exactly what happens when I sleep until the last minute and wake up just a few minutes before my daughter. Rising early gives me a chance to spend time alone and complete silence.
2. More Time to Exercise
I wish I could say I’m consistent with workouts, but lately… not so much. I always tell myself, “Well, I can do that after breakfast… during nap… this afternoon… after bedtime….,” but by the end of the day I’m in bed about to fall asleep and remember I forgot to do a workout. Getting up and moving my body helps check that important task off the list early.
3. More Time to Get Things Done
As a mother, the task list is never ending. Never. Ending. Rising early means I get a few extra minutes to start a load of laundry, put away some dishes, or pick up the playroom.
4. Get Better Sleep
Studies show that people who go to bed earlier and rise early tend to get a higher quality of sleep. More sleep means a better mood, better concentration, and even better overall health.
5. Being Prepared
Living with a three year old means needing to be prepared for anything. She might wake up ready for the day… or not so much. She might eat breakfast really quickly… or take an hour. Rising early helps me feel more prepared for any chaotic moments we share, because if I was already awake and am ready to go, then who cares if she doesn’t want to change out of her pajamas? Right….?
6. Birds
Yup, you read that right. The last of my 6 Benefits of Rising Early in the Morning is birds. Or really, just enjoying the morning. I love to listen to and watch the birds in our backyard. I love to watch the sky turn from grey to pink to gold. When I sleep in, I tend to miss those little moments.
