6 of the Best Foods in Disney’s Animal Kingdom
My husband and I had the great privilege of taking our daughter to Disney for a day. The trip was mostly to dip our toes in the water. We’ve never been to Disney and I heard it can be overwhelming. To tell you the truth, it is a lot. If we decide to go back we would need at least a week to see everything and make it worth it, but the food alone is worth the trip back! Below are 6 of the Best Foods in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Each one of these items was delicious and affordable and we highly recommend!
1. Giant Chocolate Chip Mickey Cookie – Zuri’s Sweet Shop
The first item we bought on our day in Animal Kingdom was this gigantic chocolate chip Mickey cookie at Zuri’s Sweet Shop. It’s near the safari entrance. It was chocolatey and crisp and delicious. Took the whole day to snack on it, but well worth the buy.
2. Chocolate Twist – Tamu Tamu Refreshments
Also located in the Africa area of Animal Kingdom is Tamu Tamu refreshments. They have a delectable Chocolate Twist. If you love croissants then you will love this chocolate twist. It was sweet, but light and dangerously easy to finish.
3. Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Pulled Pork – Flame Tree Barbecue
Our next stop for the 6 of the Best Foods in Disney’s Animal Kingdom was Flame Tree Barbecue. They have a mouthwatering dish of macaroni and cheese that’s topped with pulled pork, Onion Rings and Coleslaw. We all shared it, even Ronia, and loved every bite. For some reason it reminded me of summer. You really can’t go wrong with Mac N Cheese with pulled pork.
4. “Teylu” All-Beef Hot Dog Wrapped in Dough – Satu’li Canteen
This might sound crazy, but my favorite thing we tried in Animal Kingdom was this pretzel dog thing. It was delicious. The chips were good, too! They had some sort of seasoning that was just incredible. If we go to Animal Kingdom again, I definitely want to visit Satu’li Canteen.
5. Cheeseburger Steamed Pods, Bao Buns – Satu’li Canteen
The second item we tried from the Satu’li Canteen were the Cheeseburger Steamed Pods. They are very aesthetically pleasing and such a “Pandora” thing to have for lunch. I enjoyed them, but my husband found the pods slightly underwhelming. I think he would have preferred more filling and less bread. Maybe some cheese? Still, they are yummy in my opinion.
6. Chocolate Cake – Satu’li Canteen
To be honest, I am not entirely sure this was the chocolate cake. Whatever it was it was light and subtle and the perfect after-lunch dessert. I did not share. Partly because Colton was full, but still… This chocolate mouse concoction was delightful and I highly recommend.
