6 Smart Ways to Redeem Your Time
Mom life is constantly multitasking. At first it was very overwhelming, and some days it still is, but lately I’ve finally felt like I’m in this gentle dance. What as helped me most is finding 6 Smart Ways to Redeem Your Time. When I focus on finding ways not to waste the small amount of time I am given, I always feel better. If you are like me, consistently busy and worried you aren’t using your time well, then this post is for you.
1. Listen to Audio Books
I was in denial for a long time about not having enough time to read physical books. If I had my choice I would prefer to hold a book in my hands, but life is so busy lately that I finally got Audible. It’s been so nice. I’ve already read/listened to more books this year than last. You can listen to audio books while driving, working out or cleaning your house. It’s an excellent use of time.
2. Pray in the Shower
It might be tempting to shower in silence or play music, but I have found spending time in prayer to be a peaceful way to spend my shower time. When I’m done getting clean I even take a few minutes to just sit on the floor of the shower and pray out loud. There’s just something about washing yourself clean physically and spiritually all at the same time. Highly recommend.
3. Plan Ahead
Another possibly obvious way to redeem your time is to plan ahead. How much time are you losing every day looking for your keys or filling the diaper bag or scrambling for clean clothes? Take a few minutes in the morning and throughout your day to plan ahead. If you know you have a lot of returns to take to UPS, load them in the car. If you know you are going to be out a lot with your baby, then refill the diaper bag. Doing things in advance and taking just a few moments to prepare will help you redeem time in the future.
4. Meal Prep
Meal prepping is another way to redeem your time in the future. When you don’t have to think about what’s for breakfast, lunch or dinner, then you are free to focus on other things. Even if those other things include watching your baby eat spaghetti.
5. Delete Apps
Do you have an app on your phone that causes you to waste time? It might be Instagram or Netflix, Youtube or even the Weather Channel. Whatever it is, think about whether or not that app is worth the time you are losing during the day. If it’s not, then it’s got to go.
6. Prioritize and Eliminate
The final way I redeem my time is by prioritizing and eliminating. By this I mean I am learning what is actually important verses what can wait or needs to go. For example, I will not be trying to garden anymore. I’m not good at it and I have no time. On the flip side, I will make more time to watch trees with my daughter, because she loves it so much. Find what are priorities to you and learn to eliminate (or at least delay) what is not so important.
