7 Scriptures to Ponder in the Spring
Spring is a welcomed presence in our home. I’m excited to start planting vegetables and flowers, spending more time outside than in. In honor of this precious time of year I thought I would share 7 Scriptures to Ponder in the Spring.
1. “Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains.” -James 5:7
Growing a garden takes care and time, but the harvest is always worth it. I’m anxious for the day when Jesus comes back, but I know He is the perfect gardener, tending his fields to harvest at the right time.
2. “For behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.” – Song of Solomon 2:11-12
I’m so thankful for seasons. I’m thankful that winter is gone and we can look forward to Spring. There’s such beauty in the earth as it wakes up from a long winters nap.
3. “Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.” – Luke 12:27
The next of our scriptures to ponder is Luke 12, which encourages us not to worry about all the little things. God is in control.
4. “Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.” Deuteronomy 32:2
Do your words bring life or death? Are you speaking to others to help them grow or to stifle that growth?
5. “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven…” – Ecclesiastes 3:1
Ecclesiastes 3:1 is another excellent scripture to remind us of the beauty of seasons. There is a time for everything, and God holds it all in his hands.
6. “As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and another thirty.” – Matthew 13:23
Are you growing in good soil? By this I mean things like, are you feeding your soul with Gods word, spending time with people who ring you closer to Him, etc? Matthew 13:23 helps remind us to tend to our soil so that we can produce good fruit.
7. “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17
I don’t know about you, but my past self is not someone I’m proud of. Praise Him for new beginnings.
