Motherhood,  Welcome

How to Create an Autumn Acorn Sensory Table

Fall is finally upon us… at least in spirit. I recently decorated our home for the season and thought a fun sensory tale activity would be a good way to introduce the season to my toddler. The table is themed after a sweet children’s book, because why not? Learn How to Create an Autumn Acorn Sensory Table below!

1. Choose a Fall Book

For our autumn sensory table I chose a book called Because of an Acorn by Lola M Schaefer. This sweet book talks about the process of a tiny acorn becoming a big tree. It’s very useful for explaining the changing of the seasons and the journey of seeds.

2. Add Leaves & Pinecones

Hobby Lobby has all sorts of fun fall foliage you can use for sensory tables. And everything is 40% off right now… because there is always a sale at Hobby Lobby. I got a few packets of faux leaves and dried pinecones. You could also use real leaves from the yard, but I thought these would be good to use multiple times.

3. Try Colorful Acorns

You could use acorns and other seeds you find in nature for your sensory table, but I had these adorable color sorting acorns from Etsy. On the second side of our sensory table I placed their little corresponding bowls and a couple tongs. That way Ronia could work on her fine motor skills and sorting.
