How to Include Jesus in Every Part of Your Day
There is a passage in Exodus 33 that I find so inspiring. It is in this chapter of the Bible that Moses says to God, “If your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here.” I think of this verse often as I go throughout my day, because I have tried to live without the guidance of God, and it does not work. There’s no point in moving forward if He is not with me, so it is my goal to saturate my day in His presence. Read below to learn How to Include Jesus in Every Part of Your Day.

1. Start Your Day with Bible Study
Earlier this week I released a blog post about Establishing a Simple Morning Bible Study Routine. It’s important to begin your day by putting God first. I say this from personal experience, because on the mornings I oversleep and forget to spend even a few moments alone with the Lord… those are the days that usually go badly wrong. My attitude just isn’t ready to take on the world, you know? Start your day with God and it will create a good foundation for the rest of your day.
2. Try an Affirmation
When I was working at a camp in college they suggested starting off your morning with an affirmation. It could be as simple as speaking the name of Jesus before your feet touch the ground. However, you can create all sorts of affirmations for yourself in the morning. Speak the Word of God out loud to yourself as a reminder. God is the King of your home and heart. He is in control. Speak that truth into the open air!
3. Pray Continually
You don’t have to save all your prayers for morning Bible Study time. As you think of prayer requests throughout the day, give it up to God. You can speak to Him all day without stopping and He will listen. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 even says to “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” So if someone asks you to pray for them, why not stop and pray at that very moment? We are a forgetful people anyway, so don’t delay your prayer time. Make every second of your day an opportunity to communicate with God.
4. Listen to Worship Music
There’s nothing wrong with secular music. I have actually felt the Lord’s presence in songs that aren’t designated as worship music. However, I would encourage you to stay away from any music that is not edifying. That means, if the music isn’t bringing you closer to the Lord then turn it off. Include Jesus in Every Part of Your Day by changing how you listen to music and be mindful of what comes across your radio station. Also, don’t be afraid to try different types of worship music until you find something that works for you!
5. Fellowship with Other Believers
We were built for relationship. I mean, God saw that Adam was by himself and it was the first thing he said was “not good.” He knew Adam needed a partner, someone like him with whom he could develop a deep relationship. We are not meant to walk this walkalone. Another way to Include Jesus in Every Part of Your Day is to fellowship with other believers. Get together for dinner or give your friends a call. Encourage one another and it will make all the difference in your day.
