How to Prepare for the Taylor Swift Eras Tour
My best friend and I were blessed to be able to attend the Taylor Swift Eras Tour in Kansas City. It was incredible to say the least. Now as good as the concert was, there were some things I learned from attending the event that I thought I would share. In honor of Miss Swift herself, below are my top 13 tips for How to Prepare for the Taylor Swift Eras Tour.
1. Drink Water and Rest
The concert we attended was in July in Kansas City, so it was a little toasty. I suggest hydrating well before the vent, but not drinking too much during the actual concert. You don’t want to miss a single second by running to the bathroom… or porta potty.
2. Make Bracelets… With Words
Okay, so in case you didn’t know, people are making friendship bracelets to exchange at the concert. It’s such a sweet idea, and I did make bracelets, but I could not locate any beads with letters. This was unfortunate, because I discovered everyone was trading bracelets with lyrics and phrases. If you decide to make friendship bracelets, be sure to add letter beads with unique phrases. Pro tip.
The two bracelets I was able to trade said “Long Live” and “Karma is my Boyfriend.” Just for ideas!
3. Find the Right Outfit with Comfortable Shoes
Go all out for the eras tour and dress up! You could even theme your outfit around your favorite album. My ensemble was Speak Now meets Fearless and my best friend went for Folklore vibes. I got my dress new, but she actually repurposed an old wedding dress with a skirt and looked adorable.
Remember to dress cute if you want to, but comfort is key. You will be mostly standing for four hours. If you can’t stand and dance in your outfit/shoes for four hours then maybe don’t wear them.
And another way to “dress up” is with makeup, hair, accessories, or painting a number 13 on your hand a la Taylor herself.
4. Learn the Chants
Certain songs on the eras tour have a chant. You can look these chants up to learn them beforehand, that way you can feel more apart of the concert magic. Elyse Meyers has a reel on her Instagram about the chants, which is helpful.
5. Listen to All Ten Albums
It is the eras tour, after all. Refresh your Taylor Swift memory by listening to all her albums before the concert. You could even make a party out of it with any friends who are also attending the concert. Now that I’m thinking about it, having a pre-concert party the morning of the event is such a cute idea. You could have themed food and get ready together. Yes, do that.
6. Try Not to Watch Concert Content
Don’t spoil it for yourself. I know every concert is different and you won’t 100% what is coming regardless, but try and have some self control and stay away from concert content. It will be more fun being surprised!
7. Arrive Early
Please do not underestimate the traffic or the lines to get into the stadium, get merch or take pictures. Head to the concert early. And not a couple hours early. I mean get there when they open the gates. Better early than miss the opening number!
8. Don’t Forget Sunscreen
Like I said, the concert was a little toasty and it did begin before sundown. Don’t forget things like sunscreen and sunglasses.
9. Pay for Parking
Pay for parking beforehand, because it takes a lot longer to get into the stadium if you don’t have a parking spot. I saw frustrated people being sent out of the stadium, because they hadn’t prepaid for parking.
10. Bring a Portable Charger
If you want to record parts of the concert or take lots of pictures with your friends, I recommend bringing a portable charger. Running out of battery before you leave the stadium is not fun, especially if you need your phone for directions.
11. Write Down all Your Favorite Memories
So much happens in just four hours, so be sure to write down all your favorite memories as soon as possible. Keep a page in your notes app or jot them down in a journal, because you will want to remember every single detail.
12. Know the Clear Bag Policy
Our stadium had a clear bag policy. I saw some ladies getting turned away for not carrying the proper bag, so be sure to research the stadium requirements.
13. Enjoy. Every. Second.
I know you will be tempted to record the concert on your phone, take videos and pictures with your friends, etc. And it’s okay to document memories, but remember to enjoy the experience. Be present. Dance and sing loud and don’t care what anyone else thinks. Trust me, they aren’t watching you. They are watching Taylor.
