Important Things to Pack for a Pool Trip with a Toddler
My mother used to take my sister and I to the pool all summer long, and I’m so happy I get to do the same thing with my daughter. It took a little trial and error, but I feel like I have the ideal bag of Important Things to Pack for a Pool Trip with a Toddler. Don’t forget to check out the free download below!
1. Sunscreen
You can never have too much sunscreen. I like to keep three kinds in our bag: sprayable, stick and lotion. Be sure to remember not only sunscreen for your little one, but for yourself. It’s easy to forget to take care of yourself.
2. Beach Towel(s)
Ronia and I usually end up sharing a towel, but bring as many as you think you might need. I also highly recommend the extra large “sheet” towels. There’s nothing worse than using a towel that doesn’t cover your body.
3. Snacks
Always bring snacks when you are with a toddler… or if you tend to get “hangry.” Snacks are always a good bet. You could even back a little lunch box to keep the food and your child’s sippy cup cool.
4. Extra Swim Diapers
I don’t like to bring in the entire diaper bag, so I keep a few extra swim and regular diapers in the swim bag along with some wipes.
5. Floaties
We got Ronia’s pool floaties on Amazon, but you can also find them at Walmart or Target. Be sure to check what your pool allows, because I noticed our pool doesn’t permit the inflatable baby pool floats.
6. Pool Toys
Ronia hasn’t gravitated toward her pool toys yet, but it’s always good to bring some just in case. I know when I was little and had learned how to swim my mom would toss pennies into the pool for me to find. It was so much fun.
7. Hat
Ronia just recently decided she likes hats again, so she will keep hers on in the pool, thank goodness.
8. Ice Water
I try to pack ice water with us whenever we go to the pool, as well as a little lunch box with ice packs to keep Ronia’s sippy cup cold. Icy water on a hot day is just perfection.
9. First Aid Kit
You never know. You just never know.
Bonus: Pool Bag!
As a bonus item on my list of 9 Important Things to Pack for a Pool Trip with a Toddler is the bag itself. Think about functionality. You will be carrying a toddler with the bag, so what works best for you? I went with a fun beach-themed bag from Target for the fun of it. I also want Ronia to associate that bag with fun at the pool, you know?
