Mistakes I Made When Renovating My Daughters Room

Although our daughter’s room turned out beautifully, there were still a few mistakes I made in the process. Renovating a room to this scale isn’t something I had done before. 1. Not Ordering Enough Wallpaper

To clarify, I did not run out of wallpaper on this project. I did, however, have to patch together a few pieces at the very end of the project. It would have been better if I had another full roll so that the last hour or so of wallpapering wasn’t so stressful and messy.

2. The Bedside Table

I’m not in love with her bedside table and I plan to keep my eyes open for another one. The current one we have is from Ikea and just does not go. Does it function? Yes. Does is look horrendous? No. But I don’t love it like I do the rest of the room.

3. Not planning enough time.

Between wallpaper and painting and putting together the furniture, it was a lot. We got the project done by the end of the weekend, but I was absolutely exhausted. Next time I tackle a project like this I’m going to give myself more time to complete it.

4. Second-Guessing Myself

If you learn anything from this blog post, I hope it’s that you never second-guess yourself. I spent over a year thinking about this design, tweaking it, changing my mind. I had people tell me wallpaper was a bad choice, or that it was too much. What if we move? What if I don’t like it once it’s up? Or perhaps Ronia won’t like it? But I know my daughter and I know myself. The room turned out beautifully, exactly how I pictured it would. If you have an idea for your home, try it. Just take the leap and trust yourself. You’ve got this!
