1. Happy Halloween, Curious George by NT Raymond and Kelly Loughman
Happy Halloween, Curious George is a sweet little book filled with rhymes that describe each aspect of Halloween. Curious George is a staple in our home. We love the simple illustrations and wholesome writing.
2. The Berentain Bears: Halloween is Sweet! by Stan & Jan Berenstain
Speaking of wholesome writing, you can never go wrong with the Berestain Bears. I like this particular book, because it introduces Ronia to Trick or Treating and how it can be fun!
3. Brave Little Camper Saves Halloween by Rosa Von Feder
Brave Little Camper is a new series for our house. The illustrations are so cute and I love that it gives us an opportunity to talk about bravery with Ronia.
4. Five Little Pumpkins illustrated by Ben Mantle
I’ve mentioned this book before a few times. It was a gift from Grandma last Halloween and remains one of Ronia’s Favorites.
5. Little Blue Truck’s Halloween by Alice Schertle
This Little Blue Truck book has lift-and-flaps, which is wonderfully interactive. It’s also a little repetitive in the best way. Ronia likes to say the words with me, because they were easy for her to learn.
6. The Legend of the Great Pumpkin adapted by Natalie Shaw
We obviously had to introduce the Great Pumpkin to our daughter this year. I’m interested to see what she will make of the movie.
7. The Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt by Riel Nason
My husband and I both agree that this is our favorite book on the list. It’s so creative and heart-warming. Don’t let the illustrations fool you, it isn’t too spooky for your little one. The story is actually very sweet.
8. Mr. Pumpkin’s Tea Party by Erin Barker
Another favorite book of mine is Mr. Pumpkin’s Tea Party. It utilizes counting and introduces several Halloween characters. And the illustrations are just superb.
9. E.T. The Extra Terrestrial adapted from Melissa Mathison
Ronia’s #1 favorite book on the Halloween Books list is by far E.T. The Extra Terrestrial. She loves this book so much that we bought her a little E.T. hoodie. It’s a beautifully illustrated adaption of the classic film. Well worth the purchase.
10. The Good, The Bad and the Spooky by Jory John and Pete Oswald
This Bad Seed spin-off book is extra exciting, because it comes with stickers! Ronia is very much into stickers right now. The book itself is such a cute reminder to be yourself and not sweat the little things, like what to wear for Halloween.
11. Llama Llama: Trick or Treat by Anna Dewdney
It wouldn’t be a Halloween books list without Llama Llama. He’s big at our house right now. This book is an easy read, but is another story that helps introduce trick-or-treating.
12. You’re My Little Pumpkin Pie by Natalie Marshall
Natalie Marshall has the most adorable collection of books. Just get this one. It’s so cute!
13. Sheep Trick or Treat by Nancy Shaw
What will happen to the sheep as they trick or treat? Will wolves be lurking in the woods to take their goodies? Read all about our favorite silly sheep in this Halloween classic.
14. Grumpy Monkey Don’t Be Scared by Suzanne Lang
Can we have a book list without Grumpy Monkey? Probably not. In this particular book Jim and his friends go around the jungle to collect treats, but keep getting scared by strange sounds. The noises are eventually found to be nothing, and they are able to enjoy Halloween in peace. It’s a great book for kids who are scared of the dark.
15. Happy Halloween Daniel Tiger
Daniel Tiger is amazing. Every time my daughter watches the show or reads one of the stories, she learns something new. If you have a toddler/preschooler, this series is especially helpful for learning.
16. Five Little Monkeys Trick or Treat by Eileen Christelow
Our daughter loves the five little monkeys book. I think it’s because they cause a lot of mischief by trading costumes with friends to confuse their baby sitter. There are also a couple recipes in the back for Halloween treats.
17. Bluey’s Halloween Magnet Book
If you have a Bluey fan in your house, this book is an excellent choice. The magnet characters also make it more interactive, which is fun. However, the magnet storage isn’t the best, so you might need to store them separately in a baggie.
18. Blues Clues Halloween Party
Play a little game of Blue’s Clues to discover what Magenta would like to be for Halloween. My daughter loves finding the clues in this book.
