Simple Home Decor Inspiration for Autumn
A year ago last fall we moved into our new home. Needless to say we did not have much furniture let alone decorations for fall. It has been exciting for me to curate our fall decor these last few weeks. Below is Simple Home Decor Inspiration for Autumn based on what we have collected. I hope these ideas inspire you to branch out and make your home cozy for the season.

1. Try out different textures and tones.
One of my favorite parts of decorating for fall is experimenting with different textures and tones. I wanted to bring a little bit of the outside in with natural components, such as rattan and wood and dried florals. I’ve also enjoyed working with those natural autumn tones throughout our home as well.
2. Choose pieces that are nostalgic.
I like to decorate with items that mean something to me. Sure, a few dozen pumpkins don’t mean much, but throughout our home I like to sprinkle touches of home and our favorite things. For example I got this beautiful map print of Little Women on Etsy. (Elizabeth Wade is incredibly talented, so please check out her page.) Little Women is one of my favorite novels, so it reminds me of the story each time I walk by.
Tomtes are another example of a touch of home. We have tomtes for every season, because they remind me of my Swedish heritage. Yes, tomtes are a Christmas thing so I am definitely taking a few liberties. The point is, don’t be afraid to put your own unique touch on your home decor.
3. Set the table.
You don’t have to set the table every day, but there’s something special about gathering around the table with friends and eating good food. Also, no one actually sets their table anymore. It’s a tradition I’m sad we are losing. Elevate a meal this fall by setting the dining table, inviting a few loved ones and sharing good comfort food.
4. Mix the old with the new.
My relatives have gifted me several old books that I used as decor this year. I paired them with handmade Harry Potter decor I got at a local market. It might be tempting to use all the new decor items they release each year, but never underestimate the beauty of vintage items and hand-me-downs.
5. Make the space cozy.
I am a sucker for a soft pillow and a big blanket. You will always find them in every room of our home. Home is meant to be a safe, cozy, welcoming space. It’s meant to be a space in which you want to spend time and make beautiful memories. Adding a little touch a coziness only makes your home more inviting to guests and to yourself.
