The Best Board Books About the Bible for Toddlers
Lately I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking about how I can infuse more of my life with Jesus and how I can teach my daughter about her Lord and Savior. One of the things I decided to do was to buy more books that we can read together. Some Christian children’s books can be a bit cheesy, but these books below in my list of The Best Board Books About the Bible for Toddlers are creative and well done in my opinion.
I would like to disclose the books in this list are books that we have in our home. There are many many more excellent Christian books for kids out there, so be sure to do your research! I wanted to only recommend books we had read and love.

1. When God Made You by Matthew Paul Turner
My favorite book in our list of The Best Board Books About the Bible for Toddlers is When God Made You. I just love the illustrations, the rhyming and the affirming nature of the text. It’s such a good way to introduce Gods immense love to your little one.
2. Cutie Fruities and the Fruits of the Spirit by Rosie Greening
Cutie Fruities is such an adorable book that introduces the fruits of the spirit from Galatians, but personifies them as little girls. I see it as a great way to start learning scripture, as a memory tool, but it’s also a colorful and clever book that has a touch-and-feel quality to the pages. Highly recommend.
3. Prayers for Girls by Gabrielle Mercer
My mother-in-law bought this book for Ronia and I think it’s just so sweet. Prayer is something that we can introduce to our children very early, and this book is an excellent way to help explain why and how we pray.
4. When I Hold You by Ashley Huffstutler
When I hold you has a verse on every page to back the words of the story. It would make an excellent gift for Mother’s Day. Honestly, I have trouble reading it without tearing up, and the illustrations are stunning.
5. Little One, God Made You Special by Amy Waren Hilliker
This book is a quick read, but Ronia loves the animals on every page. It’s a good book to have around for those moments when your toddler can’t sit for a longer story. And it’s a reminder to them that God made them, and He made them unique!
6. God Loves the Animals by Jan & Mike Berenstain
The Berenstain Bear books were a staple in my home as a child, so I’m overjoyed to share the stories with Ronia. She loves this particular story, because there are so many animals inside, but I love it because it subtley emphasizes Gods love for all things.
7. Bedtime on Noah’s ark by Brock Eastman and Declan Eastman
Can you tell there is an animal theme here? Bedtime on Noah’s Ark is certainly fictitious, but it introduces a true and more complex story to Ronia that she will learn later. For now she enjoys all the antics of the animals and Noah’s family.
8. Noah’s Ark, Retold by Russell Punter
Speaking of Noah’s ark, this rendition of the Bible story is, like I said, a good way to begin to introduce a larger and more complex version. The illustrations are precious and the writing is well done.
9. Jesus Calling: Little Book of Prayers by Sarah Young
Jesus Calling is another prayer book that I found recently. There are verses to go with every prayer and I thought it would be another good way to show Ronia how to pray. We are working on praying throughout the day and not just at mealtimes.
10. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by CS Lewis
This rendition of the classic book by CS Lewis is one of my favorite books in Ronia’s collection. I don’t know if you can tell, but I am a lover of the written word, so any way to introduce Ronia to literature is a win. This tale also illustrates the death of Jesus in a more palatable way for a toddler.
11. There are Lions in this Book by Dandi Daley Mackall
When I found this book I was so excited, because it was so unique. There are Lions in this Book is interactive and clever. The main story of Daniel and the Lions Den is being told in the background while at the foreground a mouse is warning you to stop reading, because there are lions. It’s just cute!
12. God Bless Florida, published by Zondervan
The last book in my list of The Best Board Books About the Bible for Toddlers is God Bless Florida. I know I’m from Kansas, but they only have Florida, Texas and America. I really wish that Zondervan would publish a “God Bless” book for every state. The Florida one is cute, however, because we’e been there several times.
Honorable Mentions: Board Books by The Daily Grace Co. & the Story of Jesus Set
The Daily Grace Co. has produced a few board books for kids, and they are cute and accurate. However, I felt they were a little too advanced for Ronia in some ways. I plan on trying to read them with her now and then to continue to introduce the concepts anyway, because I feel it’s important.
As for the Story of Jesus set, I really wish I could have included it in the list. The tiny books are perfect for little hands and I love the variety of the Bible stories. This set would make an excellent gift!
